Violaine Coulon is a PhD
student supervised by Pr. Frank Pattyn at the
Laboratoire de Glaciologie of ULB, Brussels. Her
field of interest is paleo-modelling of the
Antarctic Ice Sheet.
During her Master thesis,
she investigated the Antarctic contribution to
Meltwater Pulse 1A with the Elementary
Thermomecanically-coupled ice sheet model
f.ETISh. In October 2017, she started a PhD (with
a FNRS scholarship) concerning the Antarctic Ice
Sheet stability for the past 1.5 million years,
which will be studied using a numerical ice sheet
model calibrated to geologic data. At the moment,
shes specifically focusing on the
interaction of the ice sheet with the Solid Earth
through isostatic rebound and its influence on
Antarctic behaviour during the last deglaciation
by developing an adaptation to the simple
Elastic-Lithiosphere/Relaxed Astenosphere
approach.
